Philadelphia-based interdisciplinary artist, composer, and improviser Sam Wenc has spent over a decade crafting album covers, show posters, and merchandise for independent musicians. His self-taught design practice is rooted in a handmade, collage-style approach that draws on sculpture, textile art, and poetry, reflecting his deep connection to sound. Wenc's clients include notable artists such as Yo La Tengo, Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru, and Arvo Pärt, whose music also inspires his visual language. As co-founder of Lobby Art Editions, a record label dedicated to genre-defying artists, Wenc emphasizes the importance of packaging and presentation in the album experience. He credits his internship with Hometapes Records during his undergraduate years for igniting his passion for album art and print.
