Sam Furness launches Release Day, a global creative deadline for all projects

Sam Furness, founder of Channel Twelve and Creative Quests, launched Release Day on May 29, 2025, a free collective deadline for any creative project—zines, songs, paintings, websites, essays, films—shared online with #ReleaseDay2026. The initiative aims to overcome procrastination and perfectionism. Furness partnered with CreativeMornings and Adobe. Tina Roth Eisenberg, founder of CreativeMornings, praised Furness's approach. Furness previously spent twelve months exploring twelve creative endeavors (origami, flight, drawing, food, movement, color, European cultures, animation, installation, photography, songwriting, storytelling) starting in 2016, which led to Channel Twelve. Release Day includes weekly workshops and an online community. Furness and Roth Eisenberg discussed community, creativity, and the importance of curiosity. Roth Eisenberg, who grew up in the Swiss Alps and moved to New York 26 years ago, emphasized starting small to foster creativity. Furness, from South London, studied theater and managed British music artists for eight years before launching Channel Twelve in early 2022. For Release Day 2026, Furness is writing a song for his daughter and a manifesto for Creative Quests' 10th anniversary. Roth Eisenberg is reconnecting with her art school roots.
