Sam Falls Unveils 'Untitled (Antinori)' for Antinori Art Project in Chianti
Sam Falls has finished 'Untitled (Antinori)', a site-specific artwork for the Antinori Art Project, which was revealed at the Antinori winery in Bargino, Tuscany. The American artist crafted this piece during a ten-day residency at the Tenuta Tignanello estate. Employing his 'Rain Paintings' method, Falls positioned a canvas within the vineyards to let natural elements leave their mark. Curated by Ilaria Bonacossa, the artwork is displayed on the walls of a staircase designed by Marco Casamonti, providing various perspectives. Bonacossa highlighted that Falls' approach is distinct from Land Art, as it does not permanently change the landscape. This project represents the culmination of Falls' ties with the Antinori family, who have been winemakers for 26 generations.
