On Friday, OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, introduced a novel application for ChatGPT, proposing that parents could link family calendars and share their children's interests with the AI. This would enable the creation of a daily podcast for school commutes, featuring topics like soccer games or upcoming birthdays. Alex Hirsch, the creator of 'Gravity Falls,' reacted to the post, humorously suggesting, "What if you just talked to your children?" His comment garnered much more engagement, with 9,000 reposts and 122,000 likes, overshadowing Altman's 300 reposts and 9,600 likes by Saturday morning. Altman had previously discussed the role of AI in parenting on 'The Tonight Show' with Jimmy Fallon, expressing his difficulty imagining raising a newborn without ChatGPT. OpenAI is also focusing on parents, as indicated by a job listing for a product manager specializing in trust-sensitive family experiences. Nevertheless, the company is currently facing several lawsuits from families claiming that ChatGPT has contributed to serious issues like delusions and suicides, to which OpenAI has stated it is working to enhance its models' sensitivity in such interactions.
