Salvo's Domestic Interiors Meet Radical Design at Archivio Salvo

The exhibition 'Interni con funzioni straordinarie' at Archivio Salvo in Turin explores the intersection of Salvo's painting with radical design and architecture. Curated by Lisa Andreani, the show draws from Salvo's late-1980s cycle inspired by Pieter Saenredam's Gothic cathedrals, reimagined with strobe-like light and color. The exhibition connects Salvo's domestic archive with works by Nathalie Du Pasquier, Norma Mangione, Ottavia Plazza, Luigi Serafini, and Matteo Mottin. Objects from the Memphis Group and Studio Alchimia, including furniture from Salvo's own home, create resonances with his practice. Du Pasquier, in dialogue with Mangione, cites Salvo's influence. Plazza's behavioral objects, defined by Emanuele Quinz and Samuel Bianchini, feature alongside Serafini's fantastical designs from his 'Encyclopedia of a Visionary'. A correspondence between Salvo and writer Leonardo Sciascia is reinterpreted by Mottin. The exhibition includes works by Giorgio Di Domenico, Giuseppe Garrera, Maria Morganti, and Ramona Ponzini, with future sound contributions planned. Archivio Salvo continues its legacy of experimental collaborations with contemporary artists.
