Salvo Galano's First Milan Anthology at Stamberga
Photographer Salvo Galano (Milan, 1968) presents his first Milan anthology at Stamberga, a transformed concept store in Milan. The exhibition includes three series: Facial Landscapes (Venezuela, 1997), Newyorkers (Polaroid Transfert, 1996), and Passaggio a Sudest (underwater installations off Ponza, 2014-16). Facial Landscapes features 25 portraits of cacao workers in Chuao, Venezuela, using a reverse cross-process technique (negative film developed as slides) to create surreal colors. Newyorkers captures East Village strangers via Polaroid Transfert with albumen fixative. Passaggio a Sudest involved submerging photographic plates in Ponza's waters to oxidize and attract microorganisms, creating an underwater 'space-time circle' accessible to any swimmer. Galano worked as a reporter in New York from 1995 to 2001, traveling across the Americas and Southeast Asia. The exhibition runs at Stamberga in Milan.
