Salvo Bitonti Returns to Lead Accademia Albertina di Torino

institutional · 2026-04-27

Salvo Bitonti has been reinstated as the director of the Accademia Albertina di Torino, taking over from Edoardo Di Mauro, who held the position from 2013 to 2019. Bitonti's previous tenure spanned from 2013 to 2019, during which he served as vice director for internationalization. The academy is set to broaden its global reach with 'Albertina China' in collaboration with Nanjing University, a project postponed due to the pandemic, alongside partnerships in Vietnam and India. A new Visual Arts Academy will be launched in Bahrain. Bitonti initiated Albertina Contemporary in the Rotonda building, and the Summer Exhibition is scheduled for June 30. The Festival Internazionale delle Scuole d'Arte e Design (FISAD) will return for its third edition in 2024. Additionally, a new School of Cinema, Photography, and Audiovisual will commence next academic year. Future initiatives include a September exhibition in Hydra, Greece, and a workshop with Afghan artist Rahraw Ormazad. Bitonti aims to invite visiting professors and supports equality with the university system.
