Salvador Dalí and Marc Chagall exhibitions announced for Jubilee 2025 in Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Dicastery for Evangelization has selected Salvador Dalí and Marc Chagall for two exhibitions during the 2025 Jubilee, curated by Don Alessio Geretti. The Chagall show will run in summer 2024 at the Church of San Marcello al Corso, and the Dalí exhibition from November 2024 to January 2025 at the Borromini sacristy of Sant'Agnese in Agone. Both are free and part of a broader cultural program including concerts, film screenings, an exhibition on Eastern icons (late 2024 at Sant'Agnese in Agone, with works from Russia and Ukraine), and the Cento presepi in Vaticano nativity display in collaboration with the Municipality of Rome. Geretti described Chagall as a Jewish artist who recognized the fascination of Christ, and Dalí as closer to Christian faith than commonly thought, despite not being a regular Catholic. The Jubilee officially begins December 24, 2024.
