Salt Beyoğlu Opens 'The Lives of Animals' Exhibition

Salt Beyoğlu presents 'The Lives of Animals,' an exhibition curated by Joanna Zielińska and Fatma Çolakoğlu, running from April 16 to August 10. Named after J. M. Coetzee's novel, the show critiques anthropocentrism and explores human-animal relationships through domination, care, and coexistence. Central is the work of late German-Iraqi artist Lin May Saeed, alongside contributions from Turkish and international artists. The exhibition spans Sonic Space, second and third floors, and Winter Garden, featuring a site-specific mural by David Maroto referencing Çatalhöyük. A research project by Mine Yıldırım traces Istanbul's street dogs since the 1910 Hayırsızada Incident. Realized with M HKA Antwerp as part of L'Internationale's Museum of the Commons.
