Salone del Mobile Announces Salone Contract 2027, Designed by OMA/AMO

Salone del Mobile president Maria Porro has announced Salone Contract 2027, a new project focused on contract furniture and interiors, to be masterplanned by OMA/AMO under the leadership of Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten. The initiative aims to create a dedicated space at the Rho fairgrounds in Milan that functions not as a traditional fair or show but as a 'stock exchange' for contract projects, emphasizing long-term engagement, collaboration, and the total environment rather than individual products. The space will feature a discreet entrance, a central circular forum for exchange, and movable case studies radiating outward to showcase the ecosystem of each project. Exhibitors will range from architects and furniture designers to large manufacturers and independent contributors. Historical examples cited include Roman collective commissioning, the Rockefeller Centre in New York, and the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex. Koolhaas stressed the importance of risk-taking for innovation. Salone Contract 2027 will take place from 13-18 April 2027 at Fiera Milano, Rho.
