Salone del Mobile 2026: Attendance dips but new initiatives shine
The 64th Salone del Mobile, held at Rho Fiera, attracted 316,342 visitors, a decrease from 370,824 in 2024. However, the number of exhibitors increased, with China at the forefront and a 9% rise in U.S. participation. Canadian attendance grew by 28%, while Mexican visitors rose by 15%. The event featured Salone Raritas, curated by Annalisa Rosso, highlighting both antiques and contemporary releases. Highlights included wood furniture from Herzog & de Meuron for Marta Sala Editions and a resin fountain by Sabine Marcelis. Riyadh's Zaza Maizon showcased the Vitturi chair and Tawāshuj sculpture. Maria Porro discussed design replicas, stressing the value of antiques. Dozie Kanu partnered with Knoll for new furniture, and Fisher & Paykel presented a New Zealand-themed exhibit. After 25 years, B&B Italia made a comeback. Carlo Nason, the designer of the Medusa lamp, passed away at 91.
