Salone del Mobile 2024: Evoluzione, neuroscienze e David Lynch

The 62nd edition of Salone del Mobile in Milan, running April 16–21 at Rho Fieramilano, is themed 'evoluzione' and introduces a neuroscience-based redesign of its 172,500 sqm layout by Lombardini22 to improve visitor flow, orientation, and memorability. President Maria Porro cited the pandemic as a catalyst for rethinking the format. David Lynch will create an installation titled 'Interiors by David Lynch. A Thinking Room' curated by Antonio Monda. Eurocucina and FTK will host performances by six international magazines on food and design challenges. The bathroom section features an island by Emiliano Ponzi, Design Group Italia, and Accurat on water-saving tech. Materials from Formafantasma's previous installation are reused for a speaker arena with Diébédo Francis Kéré, John Pawson, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and others coordinated by Annalisa Rosso. SaloneSatellite celebrates 25 years with 600 talents and 22 schools under the theme 'Connecting Design since 1998', plus a Triennale exhibition curated by Beppe Finessi. The Politecnico di Milano is researching the fair's territorial impact to establish a permanent observatory.
