Salone del Mobile 2018: Giacomo Moor and ZPSTUDIO Present New Works
During Milan Design Week 2018, the Salone del Mobile featured several notable presentations. At Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, Rome-based gallery Giustini/Stagetti Galleria O. showcased a custom furniture project by Giacomo Moor, the 2016 Best Young Designer, including a table, desk, and wooden shelving that engage with architectural languages and the archetypal arch form. Veteran architect Umberto Riva (born 1928) presented a collection using the same material and disciplinary dialogue. Meanwhile, at the Isola Design District, Source returned with Lovely Waste, an event focused on circular economy and consulting services for companies, displaying works by 43 designers and products from 12 companies emphasizing creative recovery, recyclable materials, and local km0 resources. A project on production waste recycling was developed by four young designers—Francesco Fusillo, Alberto Ghirardello, Filippo Protasoni, and Sebastiano Tonelli—for Tuscan eyewear company WooClass. In Brera, ZPSTUDIO (Matteo Zetti and Eva Parigi) presented a new limited-edition rug line in collaboration with Danish company Egecarpets, featuring a trompe-l'oeil staircase design. Designer Vito Nesta, aged 30, collaborated with Limonta on a Heritage Collection that reinterprets 19th-century Gobelins tapestries, displayed at Palazzo Litta.
