Sally Tallant named new director of London's Hayward Gallery

Sally Tallant has been appointed as the new director of the Hayward Gallery and Visual Arts in London, succeeding Ralph Rugoff, who has been in the role for the past twenty years. Her new position starts in July. Tallant's career began at the Hayward Gallery as an assistant curator, and she later led the programs at Serpentine Galleries from 2001 until 2011. Between 2011 and 2019, she was the artistic director and CEO of the Liverpool Biennial. Since 2019, she has directed the Queens Museum in New York, overseeing more than 30 major exhibitions and commissioning six permanent installations at LaGuardia Airport. Mark Ball, the Southbank Centre's artistic director, praised her as a forward-thinking leader aligned with the Centre's aspirations for innovation and community engagement.
