Sabato De Sarno launches 'Napoli Infinita' book project
Sabato De Sarno, former Gucci creative director (2023–2025), has launched a photographic and editorial project titled 'Napoli Infinita' to celebrate Naples' 2500-year history. Published by Cratèra and presented by nss edicola as part of the J'Adore Napoli 2500 program, the book features contributions from Neapolitan artists including musician La Niña, filmmaker Edgardo Pistone, artistic duo Bianco-Valente, artist Fabrizio Vatieri, and photographers Ciro Battiloro and Eleonora D'Angelo. De Sarno, who moved to Milan 25 years ago, describes the project as a polyphonic, non-hierarchical conversation rather than a curated selection. He aimed to capture the city's authentic, contradictory, and ever-changing nature, avoiding stereotypical representations. The book mixes poetry, photography, artworks, and letters, reflecting Naples' rhythm. De Sarno sees his role as a bridge, facilitating dialogue among diverse talents without imposing uniformity. The project emphasizes 'friction' over polished representation, as one photographer noted: 'I don't know if this is a good photo, but it's a true photo.'
