other · 2026-04-27

Sabato De Sarno, a 39-year-old Neapolitan, has been named the new creative director of Gucci, succeeding Alessandro Michele after his departure in November 2022. The announcement was made by Kering, Gucci's parent company, via a press release and Instagram post. De Sarno began his career at Prada in 2005, later working at Dolce&Gabbana and most recently as Fashion Director at Valentino until January 28, 2023. In his new role, he will oversee Gucci's Design Studio, reporting to CEO Marco Bizzarri, and be responsible for women's, men's, leather goods, accessories, and lifestyle collections. His debut is scheduled for Milan Women's Fashion Week in September 2023. Until then, Gucci's style office will continue to lead collections, as seen with the FW23 presentation at Milan Men's Fashion Week. Bizzarri expressed confidence in De Sarno's understanding of Gucci's heritage, while Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault highlighted the brand's 102-year legacy since Guccio Gucci opened his first store in Florence.
