Saâdane Afif's The Fountain Archives at Centre Pompidou
Saâdane Afif's exhibition The Fountain Archives 2008-2017 at Centre Pompidou in Paris celebrates the centenary of Marcel Duchamp's 1917 readymade Fountain. Afif has collected hundreds of pages from publications that reproduce the iconic urinal, framing them individually or as polyptychs. The project currently includes 850 publications, with a goal of 1,001. The public can submit pages via the website The Fountain Archives. The exhibition also features Augmented, a section with torn pages discussing Afif's work on Fountain, and four glass-enclosed bookshelves holding the mutilated publications. Empty wall spaces display lyrics written by the artist's friends. The show runs until April 30, 2017.
