Ryan Prince Named BJP Ones to Watch 2025
Ryan Prince, a British-Jamaican photographer, has been recognized in the British Journal of Photography's Ones to Watch 2025 issue, thanks to a nomination from Kalpesh Lathigra. With a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Documentary, Prince specializes in portrait, documentary, and conceptual photography. His notable works include "Can You Sit For Me?" and "A Survey of Family," which feature personal portraits of his British-Jamaican relatives, drawing inspiration from Carrie Mae Weems. His recent project, "One Year of Therapy," captures his therapy experiences, influenced by Poulomi Basu. This installation was showcased at Peckham 24, incorporating large vinyl prints, a plant, a chair, and research materials. Lathigra praised the series as "outstanding and courageous," as Prince seeks to confront therapy taboos, especially among Caribbean men. Additionally, he runs a blog discussing the challenges of pursuing a career in photography.
