Russian Resort Beach Attack Kills 7, Including Children

On Monday, Russia reported that a Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik killed seven people, including three children, and injured 40 others. Moscow accused Kyiv of deliberately targeting civilians, while Ukraine did not immediately comment. Social media videos verified by Reuters showed a drone striking a crowded beach area, followed by a loud explosion. Veniamin Kondratyev, governor of Russia's southern Krasnodar region, called the incident a tragedy and a deliberate attack by the Kyiv regime on civilians with no connection to military infrastructure. Earlier, Kondratyev had mentioned falling drone fragments, suggesting Russian air defenses may have intercepted the drone, but it remains unclear if electronic jamming or other methods were used. The attack occurred amid the ongoing full-scale war launched by Russia in 2022, with both sides denying targeting civilians.
