Russell Crowe Announces Summer Tour in Italy with Concerts at Colosseum and Pompeii
Russell Crowe performed at the third night of the Sanremo Festival with his band The Gentlemen Barbers, playing "Let the light shine." The actor announced a summer tour in Italy starting June 23 at the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, at the Temple of Venus and Rome overlooking the amphitheater. On July 9, the band will perform at the Amphitheatre of the Pompeii excavations. The tour continues on July 13 at Palazzo Farnese in Piacenza, July 14 at Giardini Estensi in Varese, and concludes on July 16 at Teatro Comunale Nouveau in Bologna. The Gentlemen Barbers formed about thirty years ago, with members David Kelly (drums) and Stewart Kirwan (trumpet) previously in Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts, and also played with Crowe in The Ordinary Fear of God, alongside Stuart Hunter (piano) and Chris Kamzelas (guitar). The band includes bassist James Haselwood and vocalists Stacey Fletcher, Susie Ahern, and Britney Theriot. Crowe described the band as reviving iconic songs with new arrangements, as reported by Corriere della Sera.
