Ruben Montini's 'Dove Sto con Me' Opens Prometeo Gallery's Project Room
Ruben Montini (born 1986 in Oristano) inaugurates the project room of Prometeo Gallery in Milan dedicated to young artists with his exhibition 'Dove Sto con Me'. The Sardinian artist uses performance to analyze his personal experiences, touching on themes from LGBT issues to sexuality and gender social conditions. In the exhibition, embroidery and the act of sewing—present in many of his works—create a nest of clothes that becomes an isolated space, a maternal womb to return to, and a space for creative reflection. An accompanying interview features the artist explaining: 'The space I inhabit is also the space where I think and produce my work, sewing together all my clothes in an attempt to create a space for myself, a refuge, a kind of skin in which to take shelter.' A philosophical text by Lorenzo Bernini is also included. The exhibition was reviewed by Tommaso S. Monorchio.
