Ruba Salameh's 'Refined Compositions' Opens at Zawyeh Gallery Dubai

Zawyeh Gallery is hosting a solo show called 'Refined Compositions' by Palestinian artist Ruba Salameh from September 13 to November 9, 2025, at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai. The exhibition explores how art can endure amid ongoing tragedy and genocide. Salameh uses abstract styles to express themes like memory, mourning, and resilience, inspired by the late Kamal Boullata, a renowned Palestinian painter and art historian. His work 'Homage to the Flag' (1995) significantly influences her, as it connects her to the symbolism of the Palestinian flag’s colors, which represent both hope and oppression. Salameh’s limited color palette and her thoughtful, time-consuming process reflect the fragility of memory, while ants in her pieces symbolize hard work and a connection to the land.
