RSHP completes tripartite Shanghai skyscraper One Shanghai
RSHP, a UK-based architectural firm, has completed One Shanghai, a striking 186-meter mixed-use skyscraper in Shanghai's Jing'an District. This 38-story building spans 89,000 square meters and features three unique sections for offices, retail, and public spaces. The design is influenced by the nearby Zhang Garden, known for its historic Shikumen villas, now turned into shops. The first two floors have an external shading system that mirrors the garden's colors and textures. Above these, the main tower offers stunning views of the skyline, complemented by sky gardens on the 35th and 37th floors. The layout centers around a service core with large double-height windows, and the building connects to three metro lines. Richard Paul, a director at RSHP, noted the design’s seamless blend of transport, heritage, and public spaces. The project won awards for Best Building and Best Office Building at the Council for Vertical Urbanism China Awards, with photography by Kris Provoost and ATCHAIN.
