RSA and AOAP Projects Launch Annual Summer Exhibition Illuminated
The Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and AOAP Projects, formerly Art on a Postcard, are launching a new annual summer exhibition titled Illuminated. Running from 10-24 June at the RSA's headquarters on John Adam Street in central London, the show features over 100 artists including Caroline Coon, Susie Hamilton, and Helen Beard. All works are limited to seven inches by seven inches. Artists receive 50% of sales proceeds, with the remainder funding the RSA's social impact programmes. The exhibition marks AOAP Projects' strategic shift from postcard auctions to curated exhibitions and broader fundraising initiatives. Curator Gemma Peppe noted the RSA was chosen for its social mission and underused venue. Works start at £55 to attract younger collectors. The exhibition draws on the RSA's Enlightenment roots, focusing on enlightenment, social value, and collective progress. Laure Barthelemy of the RSA highlighted the institution's belief that creativity can shape a better society. Previous RSA social impact work includes reducing regional inequality, sustainable fashion, community banks, and supporting at-risk children.
