RR & PZ's Edificio Mampara Transforms Memory in Concepción

architecture-design · 2026-05-09

Architects Luciano Riquelme and Fabiola Pineda of RR & PZ have designed Edificio Mampara, a mixed-use building in Concepción, Chile, set for completion in 2026. Curated by Valentina Díaz, the project reinterprets a former house accessed through a mampara—a transitional space that offered intimacy and pause between being seen and seeing. The new structure preserves this threshold concept. Construction is by Monica Igor and MZF CIA. LTDA, with materials from GLASSTECH and Hormigones Ebema. Photographs by Cristobal Caro document the design.
