Royal Mail issues X-Men stamps for 60th anniversary
The Royal Mail has announced a new series of stamps celebrating Marvel's X-Men, marking the 60th anniversary of the comic's debut in September 1963. The stamps, illustrated by British comic artists Mike McKone and Lee Garbett, will be released on February 16, 2023, and are available for £16.35. The collection includes 17 stamps featuring individual members of the X-Men team: Iceman (Robert "Bobby" Drake), Cyclops, Jubilee, Storm, Rogue, and Professor X. An additional illustrated sheet depicts five villains: Juggernaut, Mystique, Magneto, Emma Frost, and Sabretooth. The X-Men were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963, originally comprising five young mutants—Cyclops, Beast, Angel, Marvel Girl, and Iceman—who are ostracized by humans. The franchise has since expanded into television series, cartoons, video games, and successful films.
