Roxy In The Box Revives 10 Naples Icons in Piazza Montesanto Performance
Artist Roxy In The Box, commissioned by Sky Academy for the Sky Arte Festival, transformed the bases of olive trees in Piazza Montesanto, Naples, into portraits of ten iconic figures who embody the city's spirit. The figures include Artemisia Gentileschi, Bud Spencer, Concetta Barra, Giancarlo Siani, Fanny Cerrito, and Annibale Ruccello. On May 7, 2017, at 12:30 PM, nine of the ten portraits were brought to life by young actors who performed spontaneous interactions with passersby, leaving Totò's spot empty for public participation. The project aims to highlight the conditions of young artists and their urgent needs, as explained by Roxy in a video interview. This initiative follows previous interventions by the artist, such as "Da PoPolari a PoPolani" in the Quartieri Spagnoli, and is part of Naples' ongoing urban regeneration efforts.
