Rospigliosi Art Prize Launches in Zagarolo with Young Curators

A group of twenty-somethings founded L'AVUGI in August 2017 to promote culture and tourism in Zagarolo and the Castelli Romani area. The association has now launched the Rospigliosi Art Prize, a contemporary art award for artists under and over 30. The first edition concluded on April 29, 2018, at Palazzo Rospigliosi, a 16th-century palace that once belonged to the Colonna family. The prize was curated by Tiziano M. Todi and supported by Galleria Vittoria of Rome. The theme was 'L'arte cibo dell'anima' (Art Food of the Soul). 72 works were selected from numerous applications, including international entries. The prize had two categories: Under 30 and Over 30, with a total prize fund of €10,000 funded by consulting firm INTENT S.R.L. Over 30 winners had their works purchased by the company; Under 30 winners received one-week artist residencies in 2018, documented as a reality show with Facebook live streams. The jury included Romina Guidelli, Massimiliano Tonelli (Director of Artribune), Manuela Porcu (Director of Affordable Art Fair), Caterina Stringhetta (The Art Post Blog), Chiara Anguissola D'Altoè (Explora Children's Museum of Rome), Daniele Leodori (President of the Regional Council of Lazio), and Emanuela Panzironi (Councillor for Social and School Policies). Winners were selected in four categories: Painting, Sculpture, Photography, and Digital Art.
