Ron Mueck's First Italian Exhibition at Triennale Milano

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Triennale Milano presents the first Italian solo exhibition of Australian hyperrealist sculptor Ron Mueck, in partnership with Fondation Cartier. The show features six works, including the monumental 'Mass' (2017), a pile of 100 human skulls originally produced for the National Gallery of Victoria, now site-specifically reinstalled. New works 'This Little Piggy' (2023-) and 'En garde' (2023) mark a shift from hyperrealism: the former depicts figures about to slaughter a pig, left unfinished; the latter shows three 3D-printed dogs without detail, conveying ambiguous tension. Classic pieces like 'Baby' (2000), 'In Bed' (2005), and 'Woman with Sticks' (2009) are also on view. Two documentaries by Gautier Deblonde accompany the exhibition, revealing Mueck's meticulous process.
