Ron Mueck's comprehensive catalog released alongside Milan exhibition
An expanded bilingual catalog raisonné for Ron Mueck has been published to accompany his exhibition at Triennale Milano. The book, first released for his 2013 show at Fondation Cartier in Paris, now includes a QR code for an Italian translation. Over nearly thirty years, Mueck has produced only 48 works, ranging from giant skulls and dogs to hyperrealistic small-scale human figures. The catalog features behind-the-scenes photographs by Gautier Deblonde documenting his studios in London and on the Isle of Wight, where each piece can take months or years to complete. A key early work, Dead Dad (a miniature corpse of his father), was shown in the landmark 1997 Sensation exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts. The book's main section focuses on Mass (2017), a monumental installation of oversized white skulls commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria, including previously unpublished artist notes. Essays by Justin Paton, Robert Rosenblum, Robert Storr, and philosopher Peter Sloterdijk are included. The 312-page volume contains 230 color reproductions.
