architecture-design · 2026-04-26

Fashion designer Romeo Gigli, together with his wife Lara and daughter Diletta, has opened Riad Romeo in the heart of the Medina of Marrakech. The riad blends rationalist architecture with Moroccan craftsmanship and contemporary design. During the 1:54 contemporary African art fair in Marrakech (January 30–February 2, 2025), the riad hosted project rooms for Ethiopian photographer Yonas Tadesse and Kenyan visual artist Kevo Abbra. Permanent works by Italian designer Jacopo Foggini are also on display, including a Minin Octopus in yellow, a Medusa in green and blue, and a staircase installation created in collaboration with Gigli. The terrace bar is made of polycarbonate, with chairs from Foggini's Veronica collection for Edra. The riad features five suites and common areas intended for guests passionate about art and design.
