Rome's Museum of Purgatory Souls: A Unique Collection of Metaphysical Art

Rome houses a unique museum dedicated to the souls of purgatory, the Museo delle Anime del Purgatorio, located within the neo-Gothic Church of the Sacred Heart of Suffrage on Lungotevere Prati. Founded by French missionary Victor Jouët, who established the Association of the Sacred Heart of Suffrage for the Souls of Purgatory in 1893, the church was designed by engineer Giuseppe Gualandi and inaugurated on November 1, 1917, a century ago. The museum's collection consists of objects believed to bear traces or messages from souls in purgatory, seeking prayers for their purification.
