Rome's Jubilee 2025 Urban Renewal: Progress Report on Piazza Renovations
Rome is advancing its urban renewal initiatives in preparation for Jubilee 2025, with the Holy Door set to open on December 24, 2024. By late April, only 27% of the projects had been finalized. Significant undertakings include the redesign of Piazza del Risorgimento, which will commence on May 2, 2024, by IT'S and Net studios. In the Prati area, road improvements are almost finished as part of a €31 million initiative. Mayor Gualtieri reported that nearly 60% of the 800 km of main roads have been renovated. The €15 million renovation of Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano started on April 3, 2024, while Piazza Pia, with a budget of €79.5 million, is over 40% complete. Other ongoing projects encompass Piazza dei Cinquecento, Passeggiata del Gelsomino, and the redevelopment of the Tiber riverbanks.
