Rome's 2024 Gallery Weekend Sees Strong Organization and International Interest

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

Rome's second gallery weekend, Contemporanea Roma, took place in May 2024, building on the previous year's Tuttacittà event. The key development was the formation of an official association of 36 galleries, which self-taxed to fund the initiative and establish governance. The weekend featured 36 galleries open throughout, with support from public institutions like MACRO, MAXXI, and Palazzo delle Esposizioni, as well as foreign academies such as the Swiss Institute. Private sponsors included Jaguar, which provided transportation, and Edition by Marriott, which hosted guests. The event attracted international collectors and buyers, coordinated by Flavia Lo Chiatto. Organizers aim to improve communication, secure a major sponsor, and engage the city administration for future editions, particularly ahead of the 2025 Jubilee.
