Rome's 2018-2019 autumn season is packed with major art events. The Vittoriano complex will host simultaneous exhibitions on Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol, organized by Arthemisia and curated by Luca Beatrice for Pollock. The Pollock show, running from October, includes works by Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, and Franz Kline, with pieces from the Whitney Museum of New York. The Warhol retrospective, also at the Vittoriano's Ala Brasini, will feature nearly 200 works to mark the 90th anniversary of his birth. Additionally, the Vatican is planning a Warhol exhibition focusing on his religious works, including The Last Supper series, in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Museum at the Braccio di Carlo Magno. The Whitney Museum is organizing a traveling Warhol retrospective titled "Andy Warhol-From A to B and Back Again" (Nov 12, 2018 – Mar 31, 2019), which will also travel to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. Meanwhile, the Ō festival at the Terme di Diocleziano, curated by Cristiano Leone, runs from September 14 to December 16, featuring over 40 international artists. Arthemisia president Iole Siena stated that the simultaneous Pollock and Warhol shows aim to highlight the creative energy from New York that transformed modern art.
