Rome Launches Study Spaces in Museums, Open Evenings and Holidays

institutional · 2026-04-27

On November 10, 2023, Rome became the first city in Italy to establish a network of study areas within its museums and libraries. This initiative, championed by Culture Councillor Miguel Gotor, is designed to offer students accessible study environments during evenings and holidays. Key sites for this network include Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Palazzo Braschi, the Pelanda at Mattatoio, and Macro. The Biblioteche di Roma system will oversee the initiative, which will feature an online portal in 2024 to provide details about the study rooms. Mayor Roberto Gualtieri noted that these spaces will extend library hours, with immediate locations at Mercato Trionfale, Tor Pignattara, and Trastevere, and more sites planned for the future.
