Rome Launches First Gallery Weekend with 32 Galleries
Rome will host its first gallery weekend, Tuttacittà, from May 12 to 14, 2023, inspired by similar events in Berlin and Zurich. Thirty-two galleries across the city will hold special openings, coinciding with the Notte dei Musei and the Nuit Européenne Des Musées. Participating galleries include both young and established spaces, such as ADA, Gagosian, Galleria Continua, Monitor, T293, and Tornabuoni Art. The initiative was conceived during the pandemic by gallerist Ilaria Leoni of Ermes Ermes, who leads the organizing committee alongside Carla Chiarchiaro (ADA), Norberto Ruggeri (Studio SALES), Giulia Ruberti (Sant’Andrea de Scaphis), and Sara Zanin (z2o). Institutional partners are Museo Macro and the American Academy. Leoni describes this first edition as humble and in-house, with each gallery presenting an event or exhibition. The organizers view Tuttacittà 2023 as a zero edition, aiming to develop a long-term project and possibly a future association.
