Rome hosts first classic car concours since 1960 with Anantara Concorso Roma
The inaugural Anantara Concorso Roma took place in April 2026, marking Rome's first classic car concours since 1960. The event was postponed in 2025 out of respect for the passing of Pope Francis. Organised by Anantara hotels chairman William Heinecke, the concours featured 70 exclusive Italian classics across 16 classes, displayed outside the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi hotel. Highlights included a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B, winner of the Peninsula Classics 'Best of Best' in Paris, and a line-up of Lancia Aurelia convertibles. The winning car was a 1932 Maserati V4 Sport Zagato, owned by American collector Lawrence Auriana, making its first visit to Rome in over 90 years. Judges included former FIA president Jean Todt and Pininfarina designer Lorenzo Ramaciotti. Sponsors included Richard Mille, Gulfstream, and RM Sotheby's. Category winners were unveiled at Casina Valadier. The event also featured a parade called Giro d'Anantara and a display at the 16th-century Villa Aldobrandini.
