Rome high school students create anti-alcoholism mural Fragile
Six high school students from Rome, together with urban artist Rub Kandy (Mimmo Rubino), have created a street art mural titled Fragile in the Conca d'Oro neighborhood. The work features large bottle-green letters and a chipped glass, addressing alcoholism without moralizing. The project emerged from a workshop organized by the cooperative Parsec, which focuses on addiction prevention among local youth. The students, all politically active and part of a municipal coordination group, chose the tone of voice inspired by the Netflix series Big Mouth to be effective and non-criminalizing. They insisted on the bottle-green color and selected the wording. The mural is located near the Metro B station, in a semi-abandoned square. The students previously worked with Rubino on a project about coronavirus and fake news, using imagery from the video game Among Us, installed near the Jonio metro stop. Both projects aim to generate reflection on social issues and urban spaces. The students are also producing videos and press releases as part of the workshop's professionalization component.
