Rome Exhibition Explores Pasolini Through Comics
Palazzo Merulana in Rome will host 'Cuore cosciente – Pier Paolo Pasolini raccontato nel Fumetto' from August 26 to October 2, 2022. Curated by Stefano Piccoli and produced by ARF! Festival, the exhibition features over 80 original works from four graphic novels about Pasolini: Davide Toffolo's 'Pasolini' (2005), Giuseppe Palumbo's 'Pasolini 1964', Elettra Stamboulis and Gianluca Costantini's 'Diario segreto di Pasolini', and Gianluca Maconi's 'Il delitto Pasolini'. Additional contributions include short stories by Massimo Giacon and Danilo Maramotti, and illustrations by Milo Manara, Andrea Serio, Francesco Ripoli, Leila Mazzocchi, and Alice Iuri. The exhibition includes weekly talks and meetings with artists every Thursday afternoon in September. Piccoli noted that while many centenary events celebrated Pasolini, none had used comics as a medium, which he considers powerful and currently central to cultural debate. The show aims to present a comprehensive portrait of Pasolini as artist and man, and to engage younger audiences who might find his films or poetry less accessible.
