Romanian curator Raluca Voinea protests government control of cultural institute, launches tranzit.ro network
In a 2012 interview, Raluca Voinea, a Romanian curator, addressed the protests against an emergency ordinance that placed the Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) under Senate oversight, diverting its mission towards promoting national identity internationally. More than 3,500 individuals signed petitions opposing this shift, with backing from global figures. Voinea took part in a demonstration called "we are emigrating from the national culture," invoking renowned artists such as Constantin Brancusi and George Enescu. The People's Attorney who contested the ruling was removed from their position. Voinea, who co-founded E-cart.ro in 2006, also co-edits IDEA.
