Roman Signer's Explosive Sculptures at Art: Concept Paris Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-20

The fifth exhibition of Roman Signer at Art: Concept in Paris showcased ten sculptures that examined both finite and infinite actions through engineered experiments. At seventy-seven years old, the Swiss artist displayed pieces such as Stiefel Rot-Blau (2015), featuring smoke-bombs in rubber boots that stained a glass-fronted box. Another work, Pommery (2015), included a champagne bottle with a painted cork that burst, leaving a mark on the wall. Kabine (2015) presented remnants of an explosive charge triggered by the artist sneezing into a microphone. Notable sculptures that achieved perpetual motion were Stuhl (2014), Kamin (2012), and Ventilator mit Brett (2015). Additional works included Uhr (2008), Drei Regenschirme gleichzeitig geöffnet (2014), and Kajak (2014). The exhibition took place from 30 October to 23 December 2015.
