Roman collective None presents string-theory-inspired installation at Cannes Italian Pavilion

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

For the second consecutive year, the Roman art collective None has created an installation for the Italian Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival. This year's work, titled 'L'Universo Elegante' (The Elegant Universe), is a kinetic tunnel of moving fabric strips that greet visitors with a wave-like rhythm, while images from iconic Italian cinema scroll along the sides. The installation was developed in collaboration with Anica and Istituto Luce to serve as a showcase for the Italian space dedicated to professional networking among film industry talents, market operators, and professionals. The Italian Pavilion is described as one of the largest, most curated, and innovative at the festival. The installation will remain active until the festival's end. The collective's members—Gregorio De Luca Comandini, Mauro Pace, and Saverio Villirillo—explained the realization of the scenographic machine to journalist Federica Polidoro. Last year, None had disoriented guests with a kaleidoscopic room.
