Romain Gavras and Damien Jalet Unleash 'Storm' Music Video

digital · 2026-04-28

On April 24, the duo Gener8ion—comprising French filmmaker Romain Gavras and producer/DJ Surkin—released a double single titled 'Storm,' featuring Swedish cloud rap prodigy Yung Lean. The accompanying music video, directed by Gavras and choreographed by Damien Jalet, presents a dystopian narrative set in a boys' boarding school in 2034, where students rebel under the magnetic influence of Yung Lean's character. The video contrasts brutal fight sequences with a hypnotic, collective trance during a class photo session, showcasing Jalet's signature choreography of bodies in tension, reminiscent of his previous works with JR and Thomas Bangalter on 'Chiroptera' (2023) and Jacques Audiard's 'Emilia Pérez' (2024). Gavras, known for his violent aesthetic in earlier clips like Justice's 'Stress' (2007) and M.I.A.'s 'Born Free' (2010), continues to explore societal rage. The video's convulsive beauty echoes his earlier work on Jamie xx's 'Gosh.' Gavras is also preparing his first English-language feature film 'Sacrifice,' starring Yung Lean alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, Salma Hayek, and Charli XCX, though no release date has been announced.
