Romaeuropa Festival Opens with Tribute to Brazil
The 34th edition of the Romaeuropa Festival, titled 'Landscapes,' begins today and runs until November 24, featuring 337 artists from 27 countries. The festival opens with a performance by Lia Rodrigues, whose work 'Furia' (2018) addresses power, history, and racial dynamics in Brazil. The program includes a focus on digital arts (Digitalive), music from Alva Noto, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Franz Rosati, and Chassol with images by Gaëtan Brizzi, a children's section (Romaeuropa_Kids), and talks with artists in collaboration with Internazionale. Political themes are central in Akram Khan's 'Xenos,' a solo about a colonial soldier in WWII, and in works by Cyril Teste (with Isabelle Adjani), Aurelien Bory, Arno Shuitemaker, Julien Gosselin, Théo Mercier and Steven Michel (Silver Lion at Biennale Danza), William Forsythe, Thomas Ostermeier (adapting Didier Eribon's 'Return to Reims'), Jan Fabre, Milo Rau, Enzo Cosimi, Barberio Corsetti, Alessandra Vanzi, Marco Solari, Dante Antonelli, and Andrea Liberovici.
