Romaeuropa Festival 2019 Exhibit Section Features Pascale Marthine Tayou and Hans Op de Beeck

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

The Romaeuropa Festival 2019 has inaugurated its 'Exhibit' section, curated by Monique Veaute, president of the foundation that promotes the event. This section aims to highlight visual arts alongside the festival's core performing arts. Featured artists are Pascale Marthine Tayou with 'Love Garden' and Hans Op de Beeck, who presents the video 'Staging Silence' and directs the theatrical piece 'The Valley (an apocalypse)' in collaboration with musician Eric Sleichim. Veaute noted three unifying elements: the theme of landscape, both artists' Flemish origin, and their collaboration with Galleria Continua, which produced the exhibition. Op de Beeck's landscapes are both evoked and concrete, inviting viewers on an inner journey accompanied by his chosen music. Tayou's natural and artificial environments are dynamic and reflective, addressing globalization, environmental sustainability, and immigration. The festival takes place at Mattatoio in Rome.
