Romaeuropa 2020: Fabrizio Grifasi on the Festival's Resilience Amid COVID-19
Despite the ongoing pandemic, the Romaeuropa Festival (REf) 2020, themed "Con-tatto," is taking place, as confirmed by artistic director Fabrizio Grifasi. The festival commenced on September 15, showcasing Sasha Waltz's DIALOGE ROMA 2020 at MAXXI and at Auditorium Parco della Musica. Additionally, Milo Rau's Familie made its Italian debut. Notable performances include Vasco Brondi at the Cavea and Robert Henke's return. Spanning two months, the festival encompasses 64 events and 145 performances across 14 venues in Rome, implementing safety protocols such as limited attendance and mandatory masks. Following the cancellation in 2019, the program was adjusted. Musica per Roma and Villa Medici are key partners, and Guido Fabiani has taken over as president from Monique Veaute. Digital content will be available through January 2021.
