Rolex Unveils Day-Date 40 with Aventurine Dial and New Jubilee Gold Alloy
Rolex has unveiled a Day-Date 40 watch featuring a seafoam aventurine dial, renowned for its light-reflecting aventurescence. The green color of the dial is derived from fuchsite, a chromium-rich mica that imparts a silvery green or blue shimmer. Beneath a sapphire crystal, the dial is accented by ten baguette-cut diamond hour markers. This model combines the aventurine dial with a Presidential bracelet and case crafted from a new proprietary 18-carat alloy known as Jubilee Gold, created in-house by Rolex. Jubilee Gold showcases a blend of honeyed yellow, muted grey, and blush pink, representing Rolex's first new gold alloy since 2005. The watch operates on Rolex's in-house calibre 3255 movement and is released off-catalog in limited quantities, emphasizing material innovation rather than a typical launch. The term aventurine originates from the serendipitous discovery of goldstone in 18th-century Venice, with its name stemming from the Italian phrase 'a ventura,' meaning 'by chance.'
