Roland Fischer's Religious Uniforms Series at MAST Bologna
The MAST Foundation in Bologna, ahead of its imminent reopening, has released a series of video insights into its current exhibitions: the group show "Uniform into the work/Out of work" and the solo show "Industrial Portraits" by Walead Beshty, both curated by Urs Stahel. The video series focuses on work uniforms, featuring over 600 photographs by international photographers that explore various types of work attire across different historical, social, and professional contexts. Among the works, Roland Fischer's series "Nuns and Monks" (1958) stands out, dedicated to religious uniforms. In the video, the German photographer explains that this project, conceived in the 1980s, represents his first conceptual art project and a way to express and better understand the contradictions of the contemporary world.
