exhibition · 2026-04-23

The Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro (MAM-RJ) is hosting the exhibition 'Marginália I,' featuring graphic artist Rogério Duarte until August 26. This display includes 70 works, such as personal documents, poems, film posters, and album covers, illustrating Duarte's significant influence on Brazilian culture since the mid-20th century. Among the highlights are the 1964 poster for Glauber Rocha's 'Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol' and album covers from Caetano Veloso (1967) and Gilberto Gil (1968). Curated by Manoel Raeder and Diogo Duarte, the exhibition also showcases materials from the 1968 'Apocalipopótese' event and the 'Musicúpula' structure. Duarte, 76, is set to join a jam session on August 12. He endured arrest and torture during the military dictatorship in 1968 and later became part of the Hare Krishna movement. A book published by Editora MAM-RJ accompanies the exhibition.
